August ‘08 Patterns

Well here are the patterns I’ve been working on for August 2008.  There are plenty of crappie jigs but there may also be some bass jigs, saltwater jigs, bluegill jigs, trout flies, clousers…. who knows??!  So be sure to view through all of the pics to see what I’ve been working on!

#200808treble001 (tricked-out treble)

Here’s another TOT (tricked-out treble)…

This one is attached to a diamond lure and the treble is tricked-out with red and gold amherst pheasant feathers and small barred hackle feathers.  There are a few shots of this rig but the last photo shows how I rig this set-up.  Most folks would think that the treble would go on the bottom eye (and it can) but I like to rig it on the top eye right where the line would be tied on.  This way the bottom of the lure hits before the treble hook does.  But one could also tie on a TOT onto that bottom in hopes of a double hook-up on that rig!!

Here’s my first attempt at tricking out my own trebles! With all the spare fly tying materials that I have laying around, I found an awesome use for them! Rather than going out and buying tricked out trebles, why not just make my own?!!

This TOT (tricked out treble) is on a blood red #4 treble with orange, lime green and barred yellow hackle tied down with black 3/0 thread.

Legacy vs. Keller Central [08/29/08]

Well I went and messed up from the get-go! This was my daughter’s first high school football/marching game and I go off and forget the camera!! But I’ll not make that mistake again! My goal is to attend as many games as I can (shouldn’t be too hard since I work on the Pit Crew!) and take pics and vids so that she’ll have a copy of what all has gone on this year and in years to come!

Needless to say, the band did better than that football team! It was apparent that one team came to win and it wasn’t Legacy! The Legacy Broncos lost 35 to 10. There were some thrilling moments but the offense just wasn’t getting on the same page.

The band did a stellar job for their first performance of the year!! I was really amazed at the new styles that are being incorporated and to learn of the styles that will be incorporated as the season progresses! Certainly NOTHING like what it was when I was in marching band!! It was so good to be on the field and watching them perform but moreover, it was a blast getting to see my own daughter enjoying something that I enjoyed so much when I was her age!!
